Achilles only operated with the SSS and the Steel Phalanx, becoming the exclusive killing machine of ALEPH. Defined as an “Individual of Mass Destruction”, Achilles was the AI’s own monster, and ALEPH’s leader wherever it wanted to be present in a brutal and peremptory manner. He was also ALEPH’s standard raised in the fight against the Evolved Intelligence. That is, until the death of Patroclus.
Achilles was in the habit of always winning, of getting everything he set his mind to, so running into the insurmountable wall of ALEPH’s determination not to resuscitate his dear friend came as a complete shock to him.
Pandora already knew what it felt like to be betrayed by ALEPH, and she presented the Recreation with a plan to exact his just revenge by striking a blow that would hurt the AI and allow him to get his old friend back. Achilles had to get back into the fray and regain ALEPH’s trust, and when the dust settled, they would retrieve Patroclus’ backup copy and expose the AI. However, things on Concilium Prima unfolded in a way that completely reversed the situation and provided a new opportunity for the two conspirators. Now the EI was open to dialogue and cooperation, so they could be the ones to bridge the gap between the EI and humankind. Achilles could become the guarantor of the Evolved Intelligence in the Human Sphere, the security mechanism that would ensure that the interests of the EI went hand in hand with those of humanity. However, such a course of action would mean burning all his bridges, a point of no return to his previous life. Was Patroclus’ life worth taking such a huge and decisive plunge?
Of course, it was because this wasn’t just about Patroclus and taking revenge against ALEPH. It was about exposing before all of humankind the hidden truth about the AI. It was about laying bare the cold logic of the greatest advisor and puppet master of the major powers of the Human Sphere, for whom human lives are nothing more than ones and zeros in the pursuit of a greater good that is unfathomable to anyone but itself. What is the point of saving humanity if we lose what makes us human in the process? That is the question Achilles keeps asking himself, and the exact same one he poses to anyone who questions his actions.
Achilles is a natural-born leader, and he will open humanity’s eyes so that everyone follows him towards a new destiny, one far removed from ALEPH’s plans and focused on what really matters: people. That is what the EI has guaranteed him, and Achilles will see to it that this promise is kept. He will never again be a mindless puppet at the bidding of a disembodied voice. He now has a new purpose: to lead humanity into its future. And he will find no greater glory than accomplishing this new mission, and woe betide anyone who crosses him or tries to stand in his way!
Achilles arbeitete nur mit dem SSS und der Steel Phalanx zusammen und wurde zur exklusiven Tötungsmaschine von ALEPH. Als „Individuum der Massenvernichtung” definiert, war Achilles das eigene Monster der KI und der Anführer von ALEPH, wo immer diese auf brutale und gebieterische Weise präsent sein wollte. Er war auch das Aushängeschild von ALEPH im Kampf gegen die Evolved Intelligence. Das war zumindest bis zum Tod von Patroklos so.
Achilles war es gewohnt, immer zu gewinnen und alles zu bekommen, was er sich in den Kopf gesetzt hatte. Daher war es für ihn ein völliger Schock, auf die unüberwindbare Mauer von ALEPHs Entschlossenheit zu stoßen, seinen lieben Freund nicht wiederzubeleben.
Pandora wusste bereits, wie es sich anfühlte, von ALEPH betrogen zu werden, und sie legte Achilles einen Plan vor, um seine gerechte Rache zu nehmen, indem er einen Schlag versetzte, der der KI schaden und ihm ermöglichen würde, seinen alten Freund zurückzubekommen. Achilles musste zurück in den Kampf und das Vertrauen von ALEPH zurückgewinnen, und wenn sich der Staub gelegt hatte, würden sie die Sicherungskopie von Patroklos zurückholen und die KI entlarven. Die Ereignisse auf Concilium Prima entwickelten sich jedoch so, dass sich die Situation komplett umkehrte und sich den beiden Verschwörern eine neue Gelegenheit bot. Nun war die EI offen für Dialog und Zusammenarbeit, sodass sie diejenige sein konnten, die die Kluft zwischen der EI und der Menschheit überbrückte. Achilles könnte zum Garanten der Evolved Intelligence in der menschlichen Sphäre werden, zum Sicherheitsmechanismus, der sicherstellte, dass die Interessen der EI mit denen der Menschheit Hand in Hand gingen. Eine solche Vorgehensweise würde jedoch bedeuten, alle Brücken hinter sich abzubrechen und sich endgültig von seinem bisherigen Leben zu verabschieden. War Patroklos' Leben es wert, einen so großen und entscheidenden Sprung zu wagen?
Natürlich ging es nicht nur um Patroklos und Rache an ALEPH. Es ging darum, vor der gesamten Menschheit die verborgene Wahrheit über die KI aufzudecken. Es ging darum, die kalte Logik des größten Beraters und Strippenziehers der Großmächte der Menschheitssphäre bloßzustellen, für den Menschenleben nichts weiter sind als Einsen und Nullen im Streben nach einem höheren Wohl, das niemand außer ihm selbst begreifen kann. Was bringt es, die Menschheit zu retten, wenn wir dabei verlieren, was uns menschlich macht? Das ist die Frage, die Achilles sich immer wieder stellt, und genau dieselbe Frage, die er jedem stellt, der seine Handlungen in Frage stellt.
Achilles ist ein geborener Anführer, und er wird den Menschen die Augen öffnen, damit alle ihm in eine neue Zukunft folgen, die weit entfernt ist von den Plänen von ALEPH und sich auf das konzentriert, was wirklich zählt: die Menschen. Das hat ihm die EI garantiert, und Achilles wird dafür sorgen, dass dieses Versprechen eingehalten wird. Er wird nie wieder eine willenlose Marionette sein, die auf Befehl einer körperlosen Stimme tanzt. Er hat jetzt ein neues Ziel: die Menschheit in ihre Zukunft zu führen. Und er wird keinen größeren Ruhm finden, als diese neue Mission zu erfüllen, und wehe dem, der sich ihm in den Weg stellt oder versucht, ihn aufzuhalten!
